Abstract : Abstract - In wireless sensor networks, using mobile sink solutions is a very popular approach ,but if mobile sink updates its latest location, all nodes may repeatedly receive this information which often cause network flooding problems. So how to reducing the energy consumption of sensors, or reducing transmission delay, packet loss rate, etc. are the focuses of various researches. To improve these deficiencies of mobile sinks, this paper proposes a Grid-Cycle based Energy-Balanced Routing Protocol(GCEB). GCEB uses the multiple path selection options routing algorithm for data transfer, with reference to the GCRP (Grid-Cycle Routing Protocol) virtual grid cycle architecture mentioned in the next section to update the location information of the mobile sink. This method creates multiple grid cell architectures and selects the virtual grid cell heads (GCHs) to form an exterior cycle or an interior cycle with each adjacent node. Also this method enables the cycle system to update all grid cell heads (GCHs) to the latest location of mobile sink so that the entire network effectively reduces the energy consumption in location updates. After that, the mobile sink and the grid cell heads (GCHs) of the diagonal exterior cycle select a transmission path from a variety of paths according to the proposed improved multiple path selection options routing algorithm to relay data. Simulation results show that the utilization rate of central hotspot area of the network is dispersed, thus significantly extend the network lifetime. Keywords - Mobile sink, Grid cell heads, Cycle system, Multiple path selection options routing.
