Abstract : Routing can be termed as the process of broadcasting the data packets from a source node to a given destination. A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is meant for gathering of wireless mobile nodes dynamically, which forms a network topology. MANET eliminates the use of any existing network infrastructure or centralized administration. The routing protocols can be categorized as Proactive, Reactive and Hybrid protocols. In this paper we deals with improving the network lifetime as well as the energy conservation with decreased in delays which are occurred in the data transmission. For these aspects the genetic algorithm is used with reactive protocol AODV. Keywords-GA, AODV, fitness function, MANETs, population size
