Abstract : Recent advancement in electronic storage and computing capacity increases the amount of digital data. Also there is variety in addition of different format and type (personal video, images, audio animation, news, movies etc.) of data added so retrieving interested image or video data from all these database is some difficult task. Video Retrieval or Image Retrieval is process of retrieving the interested image or video from the given data. But by using the simple retrieval method we can’t get the correct result of the input query or irrelevant results can be shown. Due to this large amount of data we face the problem to efficiently access interested image & videos in database. Solution for this problem is content based retrieval (CBR). Content based image and video retrieval is current challenging and interesting research area. This paper explores different existing techniques of content based retrieval. Keywords-CBR,CBVR,CBIR,SVR
