Paper Title
Hardware and Software Implementation of Sensor Node Failure Detection Based on Round Trip Delays and Paths in WSN
Abstract
In recent times there is a wide spread increase in the usage of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), due to its vast
advantages of being used in industry, agriculture, medical and military etc. The advancement in the microelectronic
fabrication and sensor technology is rapid and hence made it possible to manufacture WSNs with many portable sensor
nodes. These sensor nodes are incorporated increasingly in WSNs to improve the Quality Of Service (QOS) of the network
at low cost to obtain better sensitivity and measurement accuracy of various parameters in the field. Use of large number of
sensor nodes in WSNs would increase the probability of occurrence of faulty sensor nodes. Presence of failed and
malfunctioned node may reduce the QOS of the networks which would affect the efficiency and reliability of WSNs. Hence
to maintain better QOS of WSNs it is necessary to detect and remove such faulty sensor nodes. The manual checking of
failed sensor node is difficult so paper describes the Hardware and Software implementation of Sensor node failure detection
using Round Trip Paths (RTPs) and Round Trip Delays (RTDs ) in WSNs
Keywords— Wireless Sensor Network, Round Trip Path, Round Trip Delay, faulty.
