Abstract : This paper gives an application of Moth Swarm Algorithm (MSA) in transmission networks by integrating UPFC and SVC devices for loss reduction and voltage profile enhancement. Power Loss Sensitivity Factors are used to find the optimal locations of UPFC and Fuzzy Approach is used for optimal locations of SVC.MSA is used to get the optimal control parameter settings of UPFC and optimal sizes of SVC in concern to the power loss minimization. The method proposed in this paper is tested on IEEE 14- bus system and the results are discussed. Index terms-Optimal placement, Fuzzy approach, Power loss sensitivity factors, Transmission networks, MSA.
